An Introduction to Coaching Supervision

“Supervision is an opportunity to bring someone back to their own mind, to show them how good they can be.”

- Nancy Klein.

As a coach, we can dedicate ourselves to helping others achieve their goals and unlock their potential. But who supports our growth and development?

Coaching supervision provides a vital space for reflection, learning, and professional development. It's an opportunity to explore your coaching practice, address challenges, and continuously refine your skills - under the guidance of an experienced supervisor of course.

As an ICF & (soon to be) EMCC Approved Coaching Supervisor with over 20 years of specialised experience in Coaching, Coach Training, Training Design, and Facilitation, I am passionate about helping coaches rediscover their potential and excel in their profession.

What Will You Get Out of Coaching Supervision?

  1.  Ethical Practice and Client Welfare: Explore ethical dilemmas and complex situations in a safe space, ensuring you always act in the best interest of those you partner with.

  2.  Continuous Professional Growth: Identify your strengths, areas for improvement, and set meaningful professional development goals.

  3.  Enhanced Coaching Skills: Refine your coaching techniques, communication, listening, and questioning skills. Discover new approaches and tools to expand your coaching toolkits.

  4. Emotional Support and Resilience: Process your own emotions and reactions to your coaching work, develop self-care strategies, and build resilience to minimise or prevent burnout.

  5.  Increased Confidence and Credibility: Demonstrate your commitment to professional excellence, enhancing your confidence as a coach and your credibility in the marketplace.

What You Need to Bring to Coaching Supervision?

To make the most of your coaching supervision experience, I would recommend you to bring:

  • An open mind and willingness to learn more about yourself

  • Specific coaching cases or situations you'd like to gain more perspective on

  • Reflections on your recent coaching experiences

  • Questions about coaching techniques or approaches

  • A commitment to your own growth and development as a person and as a coach
