Sharing some of my own experiences of coaching supervision:

Overcoming Impostor Syndrome  

When I first started my coaching journey and more lately, when I started to increase my coaching activity as recently as 2-3 years ago, I struggled with impostor syndrome.  

I questioned my abilities and wondered if I was truly making a difference in my coachee’s lives. Through coaching supervision, I learned to recognise and overcome these self-doubts. My supervisors have helped me identify my strengths and provided me with the tools to build my confidence as a coach. Thanks to supervision, I now approach my coaching practice with a greater sense of self-assurance and trust in my skills. 

Exploring ethical dilemmas

I once faced a challenging ethical dilemma with a coachee. I felt uncertain about how to proceed and was concerned about the potential impact on their well-being.  

Through coaching supervision, I was able to explore this dilemma in a safe and confidential space. My coaching supervisor helped me through the complexity of the situation, ensuring that I upheld ethical standards while prioritising my thinking partner's needs. This experience completely reinforced the value of supervision in helping me maintain the integrity of my coaching practice.

Accelerating my personal development  

When I was first introduced to supervision through my training, I naively underestimated how much personal growth there would be. Being a supervisor, means I am consistently confronted with internal dialogue or feelings that when unaware, could mean I collude, dismiss or tread all over the coach, their clients or the situations that are presented.  

Investing in personal supervision has encouraged me to develop my reflective practice to expand my awareness and reduce my ignorance a little more with regard to how I think, feel and respond in situations. This is helping me to increase my effectiveness within my practice and day-to-day life.
